KDL-43W805C record and pause buttons not working

I have attached a 2 TB external USB hard drive which is used as a Media source. I was expecting this to enable the record and live pause buttons on the remote but it does not work

I can play all media files successfully.

pressing record while viewing live TV i get a message to use this feature a system software update is required message displays . going to the update option i am told i am told the system software is up to date. When do you expect this feature to be available as it is standard on many competing smart TV's on the market today

USB HDD Recording is coming in a future Firmware update.

Well I had the 55X9305c and returned it and got a Samsung 65JS8500 and can say that the picture quality is certainly on par with the SOny - I wouldnt say its better but its not worse either - and the OS system works without any issues (and Netflix has 5.1).

Overall the whole user experience on the Samsung has been light years ahead of the Sony.
