Sony Android TV and Supported Chromecast Apps

Purchased the Sony KD-43X8305C Android TV in June. Prior to the firmware update on 15 July I was able to Cast Videos from my Samsung phone via ES Explorer/chromecast to the TV. Since the update I am unable to do so.

Spoke to Sony Support who got me to perform a factory reset (did not solve the issue) the technician then said the Sony Chromecast feature only supports "YouTube"

Personally I find that pathetic, Chromecast has multiple apps which support it and end of the day it is just about casting the media from your tablet/phone to the TV.

Seems that technology is going backward.

Also getting the issue of screen mirroring, I have to turn of the power to the tv then power it back on and only then does it appear in available devices to screen mirror. Again the Sony technician has implied the device I am using (Samsung S5) is not working properly and nothing wrong with the Sony TV (he did not do any remote diagnosis/connection). I would class my self as pretty technical/savvy and just felt I was being fobbed off.

Regret buying this £800 piece of junk that I wouldnt even use as a door stop.
