As per title I cannot take a backup of my Sony Xperia L3 via the companion app, this is the full error message:

Backup error

This device does not support backup & restore using a computer

BR_Nolmei (or BR_NoImei, it's impossible to understand if it's a capital 'i' or an 'l')

2.5.3.0 / Windows 10 64 bit / Win32 /GB / I4312 / 54.0.A.5.85

Xperia companion is updated, phone is updated.

I've tried to:

- reinstall xperia companion

- factory reset xperia L3

- power cycle

- yes I did activate Transfer Mode and I can browse my phone filesystem from windows explorer

I also get an error with the restore feature:

Something went wrong with backup or restore
Please try again later and contact Sony support if the error persist.

I've tried to import my Z3 Compact backup with Xperia Transfer to the Xperia L3 (something I was able to do without problem from Z3 Compact to Xperia XA2) but with no success:

"Device not supported

This device does not support Xperia Transfer using a computer"

Last problem:
for some reason I cannot complete google play store configuration (stuck on "completing setup") neither download/update any app. I've changed play store settings to allow download AND update of apps from ANY network but still it doesn't work...

Not the best first impression with this new device...

Hi @Mary50 ;

As stated in Xperia Companion support page (https://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperia-companion/) the 2019 Xperia devices can not use Xperia Companion for backup and restore.

Regarding your Google Play problem try going to Google Play app page (settings>app and notifications>Google Play) >top right 3 dots>unninstal updates and try again.
