Make sure that you have enough internal storage

that you have a reliable internet connection, 3G through data or WiFi

Are you referring at third party apps or pre-loaded Sony apps?

if the later then, settings > about phone > software update, if you don't get an update(s) notification then you will have to wait until the updates become available in your country and/or region.

You can also try Clearing the play store data.

How to clear data on apps. From your Home screen

1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on the play store app.
5. Tap Force stop > Clear data.
6. Restart the phone

Hey guys hopefully you can help me with my issue... I like to use the built-in app Sony Walkman. A couple of days ago an update screen popped up that says "A newer version of the application is required....." So I click the update tap, a status bar appears for acouple of seconds, then it goes to a screen that says Your applications distributed by Sony are up to date" But when I return to Walkman it tells me again to update. I've repeated the cycle sevral times now without resolve. And yes, I did try restarting and also turning off and back on the phone. THANKS!

Kudo, thanks for your help. I installed PC Companion onto our sony vaio and now I'm having issues with it. it shows on the upper left hand corner that my phone is not connected even though it is connected via USB I've unplugged it, plug it back in still no luck. I went to the Sony website and found my phone under support and it says that I should be able to update by going into settings, about phone, software update, system update but I do not have those options once I open about phone there is no option for any updates. please help.

Did you make sure the phone was not locked.eg pin screen lock swipe lock

So when you open settings and scroll down and touch about phone the first thing on next page should be software update.Touch that and phone will look for updates.If a green tick appears it means it is up to date.So will not list anything else. If any updates required it will list them

Nope. When I open about phone, the items listed are as follows from top to bottom: Diagnostics, Status, Legal information, Usage info settings... I can't find software updates anywhere. Super frustrating.

Can you install PC companion on another laptop or PC.If possible one running windows 7.Otherwise its going to be reflash the firmware

nope u can check updates in the apps.goto menu and click the serch bar and type update then u can find the app.and u also can click the 3dots in right corner and check any updates

Search bar in settings is not the home search bar.plus you scroll down settings and open apps ,you don't have a search bar.please read posts correctly thanks
