deleted message stuck on "cannot be sent", constantly showing red frowny face.

Hello,

I hope somebody can help me.

I tried sending a picture via text message. This didn't work and I got the message "Message cannot be sent" with that red frowny face. So I deleted the message from the conversation.

The problem is, that this deleted message now seems to be stuck somewhere: when I go to the overview of conversations, the one I tried sending the picture now always has that red frowny face next to it, even though since then I was sending normal messages succerssfully.

Also that sad frowny face sometimes comes up as a notification. I click on "clear", so it disappears, but then after a while it will come back.

I already cleares the cache for the "Messaging" and restarted the phone, but it's still there.

Do you know how I can get rid of the red frowny face?

You could try Settings - Apps then Swipe to All then locate and open Messaging - Tap force stop then Clear cache and Clear data then reboot and test

Hi Eva,I have not approved the 2nd image because it has a private mobile number.

About your problem. Can you try to clear data for messages app as suggested by Thommo?

I did the steps you said, but right after the restart the notification frowny face came back and it still shows up next to the conversation

sorry, I didnt' even think of that there is a private number showing up. And did you mean the steps that Thommo suggested or is there an other "clear data" for which I need a backup?

Sorry,I gave the exact steps. No problem,can you boot in safe mode and check if the same occurs?

Heya!

Sorry for the late rply. Yesterday I managed to get rid of the red frowny face. Yay! I replicated the error, so I was sending an other picture, which again didn't work and cam up with the frowny face. I exited messaging, cleared the notification, opened the conversation up again and then deleted the picture from the coversation. It's gone since then.
