Xperia Z dead...only red led blinking on connecting it to charger

Hi Guys, I was using my xperia Z the other day and the battery was showing at 95%. It suddenly switched off. I have tried all the ways to revive it back (volume + power button, Connecting it to computer etc) but no luck. If I connect it to a charger the only thing that's happening is that the led is blinking red and nothing post that. If I take the charger then no lights... nothing! Tried everything but no luck. Had a galaxy nexus before this and no issue for 2+ years :(. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Connect your phone to a wall charger, press and hold power and volume up for 10 seconds, let it charge for two to three hours
