Hi

The ROM used for storing IMEI and other factory programed data at point of manufacture,

is it EEPROM, or one time programable, ie internal fuseble links on the chip wafer ???

I doubt if there is anyone on this forum can answer this, but it may let me know if I have what to me is a E1 brick

or a phone I can use

Tia

Richard

Thanks

If Sony have moved entirely to the use of NAND Flash memory and the one time protection bit is set, which on the service menu

is indicated that it is set, it means my phone is a brick now and can only be used on one network.

Which leaves me pig sick !!!!!!

Are service exchange pcbs available for a E1 ?, as it looks like its the only way I can use my phone on another network ?

I take it you have checked the service menu to see if you have a hard locked phone or if you have unlock attempts left, if you have then I believe Sony service centres can reset this but don't quote me on that - I'm merely repeating what I've read

Hi Thommo

Yes I have checked in the service menu and its hardlocked, It should be at the moment at the Ashford ,Kent Service center

1-17824485515

I've given up with VF, their training of staff is so bad, they dont know the difference between hard locked and soft locked,

they think hard locked means blacklisted.

I've also checked the various manufacturers data sheet s on their NAND Flash, and depending on which manufacture supplied the NAND Flash to the

factory will determine the action of the one time only function on the NAND.

All I can do is hope that someone at the service center can apply some common sense, I'm at the end of contract with VF , I would like to be able to use the xperia phone with my new provider.

TIA

Richard

Furthermore, you have made an accusation without fact,

The first line of the SIM LOCK menu read :-

[o] Network 5

Had I done as you have accused me of the "5" would be "0", the 5 shows there are 5 attempts allowed. but

[o] shows the feature has been disabled when that section of NAND was written to at the end of the pruction line, when the IMEI was entered.

As a seniour memeber of this forum to make an unfounded accusation is unwarranted, and I hope a moderator will step in,

You should be stripped of any rank earnt on this forum, and IMO opinion barred from any postings.

and I want an apology from you

This is suppose to be a forum to obtain help, as it is an official sony forum a formal complaint will be made

Richard

You must respect your fellow members. Please refrain from inflammatory and defamatory comments as well as flaming, taunting and general disrespect. Do not simply put down the opinion or advice given by others. If you don't agree with it, say why - respectfully. Don't just tell them they're wrong. Do not make uninvited remarks about typos, duplicate posts, posting styles, etc. This is not the place to aggressively pursue attacks and accusations on one's chosen style or background. We all have different opinions and different backgrounds.

When an opinion based discussion is being had, do not state things like "there is no argument" as if your opinion is the only one or the only one that matters.
