Autolock after phonecalls

Hi Everyone out there.

I'm having an Xperia X10 and I like most of the features though some things annoy me just like this... The phone automatically locks itself after an call !! This is becoming really irritating when you want to make few calls and everytime you have to unlock and then call, then unlock again.

How can we disable this so that I've to lock it manaually?

Also being facing the same problem as have several others. Myself & prathaban have discussed this on another X10 related forum and can't find any solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Guys,

I imagine you'll be looking for a lock screen app. on the Market and have to go from there.

Consider this a bump up, since I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Exactly! But unfortunately we are in bad luck for that. It seems to be an pure bug rather than anything else and would be great if this piece of information reaches the developers so that they could fix it in next firmware update release. This is most annoying thing.

Sent, not a problem. I can't tell you "Yes, they will fix it" obviously, but its gone to the right people.

I have never used another Android phone besides our own, can you give me specific examples where this does not happen, and others where it works like our devices.

I'll be honest, this was never an issue before for me, and when I realized what you were stating I still didn't find it strange.

Can you quickly describe a case (you could write it as a story, which will be expanded step-by-step during this topic) where this is an issue for consumer, and one where a consumer may NOT notice it.

Ok, this is my first Android Phone as well. So I got no clue if this is how Android works. My previous Phone was Nokia N79.

Now when I unlock X10 and make a call (Go to contacts -- > Search for the specific person and call him) after I press end call, I expect the phone to return to contacts program rather than lock by itself.

This is annoying particularly when you are making several calls in a row and got to unlock it each time to make a new call.

It is jiust impossible not to nopte it after you make a call.

No phone I ever had locked itself after a call.

I would like to have the option for it not to lock itself also.

This happens on my X10 as well. I had a W580i before this and it would always go back to the previous screen once a call was ended (i.e. not be locked). Like was said earlier this may just be a function of Android phones(?), I'm not sure as this is my first Android phone.

Count me in, on that particular problem. It's a seriously irritating issue. Not only that, having the screen lock activated when you're on a call is also just as frustrating. It happens when you have the keypad pulled up only, which is ironic cause this is excatly when you might need to enter numbers, options etc... So you always have to tap twice. And SE's excuse for this is that supposidely customers complained on previous versions when they hitting accidentally the keypad during a phone conversation. I would have liked to have the option (a check box), as to whether I wish to have this screenlock facility or not. On the other hand, the issue of screen locking after a call is even more inferioriating when one is trying to place a call, and it's for instance engaged, and you have to keep trying until you get through. After each attempt you have to unlock the screen in order to place the call again, and this is just very counter-productive

don't you guys think you will push bittons with your cheaks and ears if phone will not be locked after you put it closer to your head?

strange think i'm using it about few monthes already and never thought call locking is a problem 😃 anyway probably there is an solution to have this feature able to set up for the personal preference

Hi,

This should not happen, as the x10 has a proximity sensor, so it should only block the screen when the proximity sensor is activated, not every time.

This happening is just plain bad SW design.

if SE give you firm answer and they are not able to do it, they will have problem again, that's normal tactic, they won't give any promise until they really did it. Just be patient, hope for the best.

I got my phone a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't autolock at the end of a phone call. It takes me back to the last place I was. Don't know if your phone has older software on it?

Had my Xperia 2 months and it autolocks after every call, it's especially infuriating when you need to make several calls and have to unlock before each and every one.

Come on SE pull your finger out and patch it.

I'm the second oner to whom this doesn't always happen. I am at home and just tried dialling my home number from my X10, just for a few seconds. The phone didn't lock afterwards. It also didn't lock when I rang my mobile from the home phone. Again, it was only a very quick call, so perhaps it only happens if the call is over a certain duration? I'll try to experiment further a bit later with slightly longer calls, and see what happens then.

I don't know what 'kernel version' or 'baseband version' or 'build number' mean, but I'm in Canada, the phone has the usual Android version 1.6 software and my phone is the original big X10 - X10a? If you let me know where to get the other information, I'll be happy to check it for you.

I'm in Canada too and it pretty much always locks on me after a call. Unless you have 'debranded' your phone, you still have the stock firmware version like me (014). To check this info, go to Settings>About phone and look near the bottom of what is shown. Hope this helps!

I've not debranded my phone. It's just as I got it from Rogers last week.

I think it usually locks after phone calls, but it didn;t when I made very brief calls to myself earlier, so perhaps the auto locking thing kicks in after a minute or so?

Quick call and disconnect doens't lock the phone. Its only when you are in for more than 30 seconds or so this happens. I'm pretty sure almost everyone has this problem, but I'm very disappointed no answer from SE !!
