First the charging on the XZP is adaptive. It charges really quickly when the battery is low but it starts to charge slower and slower as it reaches 100% to protect the battery and increase its life.

at 90% you'd spend another good 20 mins to reach 100%. That's how quick charging works anyway.

Ampere app is not accurate on the XZP. I use Aida64 which suprisingly reads in real time the charging / discharging on Nougat whereas it couldn't on 6.0 due to OS limitation. I was in direct contact with the developers of the application and they are extremely helpful and fast at bug fixing ( gonna contact them again as it shows discharging when it charging and vice versa )

Back to your question, what's the charger included ? if its says " Qc3 " then the charging should be 2700mah when the phone is off and battery below 5%...

When you turn on the display and the phone is idle, it's consuming around 200-300 mAh on ( 50% brightness ) that means 2400 mah of charging since your screen is on checking for readings

Charging @1572 mah ( 68 % )

Charging @ 550 mah ( 90% )

Thankyou so much for your indepth reply. It's my first time on this forum so I'm thankful for your help. I've had sony devices before and many other phones with quick charging (oneplus3, LGg5,sony z5 and more). I think it is the last 10% that trickle charges but for example I put my xz premium on charge at 79% to top up before work on a 2amp charger (I do have the sony qc3 charger too) and it took 1.5hrs to finish to 100%. It just doesn't seem right somehow, but I will experiment more this weekend though. The ampere app is a bit iffy with accuracy and compatibility so I will try your suggestion, thanks again for your help.

I also using the quick charge came with the box. But it seems very slow. Everytime I charge need 2 hour plus. Even I start from 50% also need long time. I've turn off the Battery care also no different .
