Headphones wont connect

My headphones will not connect to the phone via the adapter. I've tried turning everything off and on again but just isn't recognising anything is connected

I have this issue for the second time with this phone and its driving me insane. I use my ear buds all the time and I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start using my old Xperia instead. Any answer from Sony would help!

Just to clarify; You try to connect via cable to the USB-port adapter or via Bluetooth?

If via USB-adapter, have you tested with another adapter to see if the adapter itself is the cause.?

Or tested with another /type of headset?

Connection doesn't work with different headphones or cable (partner has same phone) charges fine through the connection also.
