How is this phone so slow?

Hi, I just purchased the Xperia 10. Previously had an xz1 and the xz1 is so much snappier and faster than this Xperia 10. This phone literally lags when opening apps. I have no other issues with it. It seriously lags. Takes about 5-8 seconds to open an app such as YouTube or Netflix. I've done a factory reset. Updated the software. And still.... Slow moving. My xz1 was much quicker than this. Any tips or tricks? I've disabled all apps I don't use and my ram is sitting at about 1.3 gb of space left out of 3. So.... I don't think it's a ram issue. It's a software issue.

Hi @Dallon426, sorry to hear about this.

Have you been able to test your phone in safe mode to see if the performance improves there? Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode where all downloaded apps are temporarily deactivated while in safe mode and by doing this, you can see whether this behaviour is caused by a downloaded app or not. For more information on safe mode and how to use it, click here.

If the phone behaves the same way in safe mode, I would suggest that you try to repair the software on the phone using Xperia Companion and a computer. Keep in mind though that a software repair will erase all user data from the phone, so remember to do a backup before the repair to prevent data loss.

Try these measures and feel free to keep me posted with the results!

Hi I have rebooted in safe mode and experience the same issue. I have also read several reviews and this is people's biggest complaints. The phone does not respond in a quick manner. It seems whatevwr the task is, the phone responds slow. A shame because it's a good design and the DAC is slightly better than the DAC in the XZ1. It's still not anywhere near as powerful as the LG G7, but the DAC is decent in the Xperia 10. I was hoping for a big improvement over the XZ1 but there isn't much improvement:/

Hopefully Sony can get this phone sorted out and hopefully Sony can deliver a super powerful DAC because right now it is sufficient but not anything worth writing home about.

XZ1 is flagship, Xperia 10 is midrange phone.

That's why is difference in performance. (Mainly because better processor in XZ1)

My old phones from 2015 (Motorola Razr? perform better. This has better specs. It's poorly written software, I suspect.
