i have a dsc-w50 when i turn the camera on a accsess sign comes on the screen and i have to wait around 20 seconds before i can use the camera does anyone know if it can be turned off as its a pain waitin many thanks

Hello,

This screen is appearing at start up because the camera is initialising/starting up with the memory card that has been inserted within - it isn't usually a feature that can be switched on/off.

thanks just tried my camera without card and your right just got to find how to switch it off now many thanks for your help

You're very welcome!.

Another possibility could be that the card you are currently using might benefit from being formatted (once you have backed up any existing photos/other files on there). This may improve access speed if the card hasn't been formatted in a while.

found it you have to go into menu - setup - then go down menu and click initialize and that sorts it again many thanks
