In the absence of an external mike on this handycam I find that there is much wind noise on my recordings in any wind conditions. Short of sticking tape over the two mike grills, does anyone have a solution that will enable me to actually catch backgrond sounds without them being smothered by wind striking the metal grills?

check out these links for universal windshields (commercial and DIY). I have bought the one from Gutmann (for my DSC-HX1) and it really makes the difference!

http://www.mikrofon-windschutz-gutmann.de/produkte/mikrofon-windschutz-f%C3%BCr-handycams/universal/

http://vimeo.com/3487917

http://www.vistek.ca/store/ProVideoMicrophones/256219/rycote-micro-windjammers-6-reusable-fur-covers-30-cuthole-sticker.aspx

Message was edited by: cmosse

Just thought I'd let you know that I have now tried attaching a small patch of imitation fur to the camera and carriedd out a test using a fan (as in the video) and it works fine.

Thanks again.
