new sony vaio svf1531c5e will not switch on

Hi,

The laptop has only lasted about 3 weeks. Switched on on Xmas day.

Whilst I await some advice from sony - who are for some reason not available on a weekend - could you please advise on the potential causes/solution to my problem?

The laptop will not switch on. The power light is on the power supply. There was approx 8 hrs left on the batterty power when last used yesterday.

I have followed the sony advice pages and tried to reset the battery by removing then trying to power up again. The laptop won't power up via the mains when the battery is removed either. The laptop appears to have died!

Hi Steve.

What happens is you press the ASSIST button when shut down?

I believe some users with this problem on earlier models have had some success by pressing the 'Reset' button on the bottom of the Vaio.

If not, perhaps someone else can help - or as a last resort it will have to be Sony Support on Monday.
