Pure screen resolution on SVE1512M1EW

Yesterday, I have bought Sony Vaio E-series SVE1512M1EW. I am very unhappy with its screen resolution. I can say it's the worst quality screen in comparison with all laptops I have used previously. Could you please advice on reason for this? Can it be due to Graphics? If it's something possible to be improved with update I want to update. Thank you in advance!
