LAPTOP SAYS "LOCKING" THEN SHUTS DOWN.

Hi,

My laptop battery has died. Doesn't charge anymore. Now when i turn it on, a message saying "locking" comes up, then laptop shuts down. Is the battery causing this to happen, because when i remove the battery and just work from the mains leads, everything works fine, and no message comes up? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Yes, this is a result of the defective battery.
