BDP-S570 Thumbnails

On my BDP-S570 the Home menu thumbnail icons for BBC iPlayer, Demand Five, LOVEFiLM etc are not showing. I have tried a full reset but no joy. Software version M04.R.708. Any ideas?

Hi, Firstly do you have an internet connection, if so the first thing to do is refresh internet content and check the network statusis showing internet OK.

Hi, yes, wired internet connection working fine, refreshed internet content and network status ok. All the video links are actually working fine but there are no graphic thumbnail icons, just blank spaces where the icons should be next to the text, e.g. BBC iPlayer. The icons just seem to have vanished!

Hmm strange as the icons themselves are streamed direct from the service provider ( i.e. Channel 5, Lovefilm etc )

It may just be a temporary glitch as I've tried it here in the office and its working fine. Please shout if it continues to be a problem in 24 hours or so.

It is strange because it's been like this for a week or two. I have attached a screenshot which shows that the Video icons for Demand Five and SONY ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION are blank but BBC iPLayer, LOVEFiLM and FIFA World Cup Collection show a standard grey/white "broadcast" icon. The Music icons for Berliner Philharmoniker and National Public Radio are also both blank.

Hmm, something isn't right here. Have you tried doing a full factory reset on the product? If this doesn't resolve and you've done a firmware update, give the call centre a buzz and they can advise you of next steps as it may be a trip to the service centre to get them to check it out might be the next step..

Yes, I have the latest update M04.R.708 and I have done a Resetting>Reset to Factory Default Settings>All Settings. Is there a hard reset? Is there anything else I can try?

All the icons returned to normal with the Qriocity update so problem solved.

Hi there,

I am having the same problem - no icon logos, just greyed out RSS feeds or whatever they are, has worked at other internet connections and tried all of the above to fix, but to no avail. Any idea as to what the problem, or fix could be?

Ok, what version of the firmware are you running? Does it work over a wired network at all? You say the icons are greyed out - can you attach a photo so I can see>?

I have the latest firmware update, there is no difference over wireless or wired network. The greyed out cons are where you would have bbc i player logo, love film etc the icons just now are like the orange and white RSS feeds - but a grey version. Im wondering if its the router - but have reset that, updated it etc.

as you can see the qriocity icon is there, dvd and also the berlin philharmoniker icon is there under the music tab.

Ok - can you make sure you are disconnected from the network, then go to settings>resetting and 'reset to factory settings, making sure you select all settings. After that go to 'Initialise Personal Information' under the same resetting tab and hit ok. That should flush all the old icons. Then reconnect via ethernet to your router, and go into network and check your settings, making sure it says you are conneted under 'status' and go back to the main menu and select from either music or vide, 'select to refresh Internet content'.

Thus should clear everything out and restart all the channels *hopefully*

What happens, same greyed out icons?

Very odd as the system is just plug and play. Maybe there is some other glitch which is preventing normal operation. Depending on how old the system is, I'd either get it swapped by your retailer or book it in at your local Sony Service Centre (details at the top of the page) so they can test and diagnose.

Sorry I can't offer a simpler workaround.
