Xperia 5 mark as read

When I get an e-mail, i want to be able to mark it as read, without having to click in it.

Is this possible?

Hi @MRerik, let me see if I can help out here.

If you want to mark an unread Email as read in the Gmail app, tap and hold the message you want to mark as read followed by tapping the icon in the top right corner looking like an opened envelope. This will mark the email as read without having to open the Email.

I hope that helped!

Hi.

I'm sorry, but i was vague in my description.

I'm using Outlook, and i meant when you receive an e-mail, and your screen is locked and you don't have to unlock your phone to change status to 'read'.

This was something I could do on my Xperia X.

Hi again @MRerik and thank you for the clarification!

I just tried on one of the Xperia 5 models that we have here at the office and the only options that were eligible from the lock screen was to hide the notification. If the phone is unlocked you can either reply to the Email, delete it or move it to the archive, but there is no way to mark the Email as read from the notification.

My support for the Outlook app is a bit limited since the app is manufactured by a third party. I do not know if there is a setting for this in the app, but you may get another answer from Microsoft if you get in contact with them since they are the ones who manufactured the app.

I hope that helped!

Martin, That has never been a selection in Outlook.

You can swipe away the notification, but you can't mark it as read, not like a text, or message from Whatsapp for example.

I'm positive this has been a requested asset for Outlook for about 5 or 6 years, but Microsoft have done nothing about it bar marking it "working on it", and that was back in 2015.  Smiling_Face_with_open_Mouth

That may very well be the case @RottenFoxBreath. As i said, I am not the most avid user of the Outlook app, all I know is that i tried it and it did not work. Slightly_smiling_Face

It's a main topic in the Outlook support forum with the thread garnering about 250+ pages of posts going back years...and it marked "working on it" 🤓
