Old Lenses on new camera

Hi There,

I'm looking to get a new camera, the Sony A99ii. I have a Sony A58 with 3 lenses, I was wondering if I can use my old lenses on a sony A99ii?

Thank you in Advance

Hello @sapowel42,

since both cameras use the so called "A-Mount" system for lenses, you can use your lenses from your a58 camera on your new a99II.

Yes the A58 lenses will work on a A99ii. However the A58 sensor is APS-C sized. The A99ii is Full Frame sensor which is approx 1.5 times bigger than the A58. So your A58 lenses will only fill about 2/3rds of the sensor and use about 2/3rds the megapixels. This will depend on what lenses you have as they be designed for Full Frame but more likely APS-C sized. You may have someplace in the A99ii menu to tell the camera to automatically adjust for the size difference. RAWs will still work. (Also if you clean your own sensors you will need larger swabs for the Full Frame over the A58).
