Can I disable my soundbar?

I've just bought a KD-55AG8 TV and a SONOS Beam an I hooked it up via HDMI ARC. 

It sounds great but my problem is that my wife doesn't like surround sound (she has a hearing problem and surround sound exacerbates it!) so I'd like to use the sound on the TV and only switch over to the SONOS when I want it to.  I tried using the action menu to switch to TV sound but it keeps reverting, any ideas how I can do this other than yanking out the HDMI Cable when I need to use TV sound.

Can you switch the sound output from the TV to stereo only, so you both still always get the benefit of the soundbar, and then toggle over to surround for your special occasions?

That gets it down to a very few keypresses each time, and no need to get up off the sofa 😆
