I'm trying to connect (by bluetooth) my Sennheiser HD 4.50BTNC headphones to my KD-49XF8096 TV. The TV starts to search but never finds the headphones.. just shows searching. I have paired other items (not headphones) to the TV.
Is this a compatibility issue or is there another way to force the pairing?

Your model don't has A2DP Bluetooth Profile, so... You can't connect a Bluetooth Headphones.
Can I use Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and Sound Bars with Android TV?

A workaround is: try to use and Android App like Bluetooth Pair, you can find this App on the Web, by PC's Browser, install the App on TV by a File Manager from an USB Memory.
Find App > Copy the App in a USB Memory and connect her into TV > Install Bluetooth Pair and try the Pairing.

Thanks, I will try your solution.. I've seen that suggested elsewhere but I was a a little wary about it
