Ok, so, experimented by exporting channel list just now and used the Pc ver of Sony channel editor, rearranged how i want and imported back, successfully, job done back to how i want it, Freesat that is.

It is still showing 5000 channels on the General satellite tuner which is what the mobile app keeps wanting to connect to, i have tried removing the channels with both the editing app and within the tv settings itself, but on a reboot they reappear, at some point i think i tuned that in and then didnt use it because FTA satellites only provide a now and next in the epg and not a full schedule like freesat does,  be handy if anyone knew a way to permamently remove these without having to do a full factory reset.

Another though that springs to mind is - Has anyone ever found a way to backup the tv to a restorable image, in the same way you can android phones, tablets etc,  that would be amazing if we could actually create an image of our tv when fully installed, to be able to restore it if it all went wrong.  Highly doubt anyone ever has, but i dont know about other Sony tvs but this one has way loads of settings that have to be tweaked during an initial fresh install, can be quite time consuming lol.

Hey @graygerman

Maybe there is an option when you tune the channels initially to choose the channels that you need only to be installed .

Regarding backing up the TV, I wish that it exists, but I don't believe that has been invented yet

Unfortunately no, the only options available when tuning are standard freesat, postcode etc, there is no option to opt out of certain channels.  Today i have to export and edit the list again as once again Freesat have changed the names of some of the channels and moved them to the end of the list GRRRRRRRRRm so annoying.

There must be an option to disable allowing freesat to change my channel list layout whenever they choose, i shall have to explore that option.

As  you are running the same software version as my TV you could try this.

Press Settings  (Remote Control)> Settings (Onscreen)> Channels & Inputs> Channels> Channel Setup>

Advanced Settings.

There you will find Channel Replacement, switch to off position, and Auto Service Replacement, switch to off.

These options are available to me as I am on Freeview, you could perhaps see as a Freesat user if these settings are available to you.

Thanks i have done as youve said, hopefully now i can just turn on my tv and watch it without having to spend 10 mins trying to see where my channel has moved to.  Ive never known this happen on my older tvs like Hisense, yes things alter, channels get a new name, but it usally happens automatically and in an acceptable tidy manner with channels remaining in same position in lists. I dont get why they keep moving half a dozen channels up into the 900s region among the umpteen regional bbc channels.

I have those two options on on my TV and whenever there is a channel change or rename

the other channels always stay in the same position so I never have to re edit the list,

I wonder if  this is something peculiar to Freesat and not Freeview.

The trouble with the idea of backing up the TV is that you are likely to back up whatever issue you are planning to Factory Reset because of.

So you would back up (if there was such a thing), Factory Reset, restore what you backed up, and bingo, you would have brought whatever the problem was right back again 😢

Yeah, that most likely to happen after FR, that's why they didn't invent it I guess
