I recently got a KD-55XD8505 TV. To be able to do recordings I bought a Freecom USB 3.0 256 GB external mSSD. I was suprised to see that the TV detects the disk only in USB port 2. If I connect it to USB ports 1 or 3, nothing happens. For recording I should use port 3. Any ideas what I could do?
The disk came with FAT32 file system. I already tried reformating it, but it did not help.
In my limited experience so far the USB detection is ropey at best.
Ive tried several types of external HDD some were recognised, some not. Sony will only recommend a very limited number of drives, most of which are either unavailable anymore or ridiculously expensive.
Bizarrely, the fastest USB drive I own threw up an error saying it was too slow! and the slowest 5400rpm USB2.0 drive I have works flawlessley, go figure!
Hi @jayptee,
read this FAQ:
Can a USB memory stick or USB solid-state drive (SSD) be used for recording?
Unfortunately, a USB memory stick or USB SSD cannot be used for recording.
So, mSSD too...
