Hi ,
I have a Sony KD-65XD9035 which has performed well since purchase about 5 years ago.
It has developed an annoying fault as below.
After being switched on for a couple of hours any text displayed on the screen is duplicated about 3 ins below with a shadow.
I have removed all inputs and its the same, even on the test picture screen , any wording on the settings screen is duplicated when selected.
I have run self diagnosis which reports no errors.
Put TV in standby, leave for a few hours and switch back on and the problem goes away only to return after about 3 hrs.
Any ideas.
Everything else works as normal and the only thing i've noticed is that the power supply gets quite hot when TV is switched on but is only warm when in stand by , but I assume this is normal.
Hope someone can help
Hi @sirooco
Unfortunately it does sound like the TV is on its way out and some form of service is required. Also the chances are your 2016 TV is out of warranty. Are you sure that the model number is not KD-65XD9305? If it is then you are in luck but must act quickly, The extended warranty runs out on 31st July 2022.
Notice for free repair: KD-55XD9305 and KD-65XD9305 TVs | Sony UK
Thanks,
Yes it is a 9305 (fat finger typing)
I know that if its the screen which has gone faulty it's not economic to repair, but if its a board it may well be.
The warranty recall is for power board failure only so will be of no help in this case.
this is a picture of the fault if it helps anyone suggest a diagnosis.
it also strange that I cant put it into service mode Display> 5 V+ >Power.
does anyone know of a different combination of buttons I could try?
