When using a card reader (CA module) to view scrambled/unscrambled TV channels, pixelation occurs with the 2 latest firmware updates. It was a firmware problem Sony fixed back in 2022, but now Sony has reintroduced it with one of the 2 latest firmware updates. I am running the latest firmware: 6.8156.
It behaves exactly like it did in 2022 when they first introduced the problem. When the CA module is inserted the image pixelates. When it is removed it doesn't.
Sony: please fix the firmware
Another firmware update has been released, but it didn't fix anything.
I want to thank Sony for not giving a damn about its paying customers.
well, i swithced to setopbox because it was already so terrible, i couldnt watch the TV.
@Sony, PLEASE repair this SW error! i bought a expensive OLED TV, which stopped working after just few years, so my wife is telling me that never ever we will buy Sony! Change it!

Hi @moose_it @ Sony is just another user from 2004 that chose an unfortunate name. Unfortunately Sony will not see your threat or demand on here, please see Welcome below.
OH, sorry.... do you know if there is anyone who can ask Sony global support for their heads up, please?
this issue is already causing me to swich to other manufacturers, but i like Sony products, but without support fixing bugs....................

Hi @moose_it Have you tried here https://services.sony.cz/supportmvc/cs/Contact/Email?cat=televisions-projectors2&tab=Tips&act=cls
Thanks for the link.
I sent a support request...
Hello Jiri,
please, send me your email, im in contact with also Global Support, because im affraid, Czech support will only ask you to get your TV to to change the main-board.. But as we know from this topic, the change of main-board will cost you about 10kCZK and it will solve the issue only until the new software update.
so i believe its important to contact the global support to be sure of their head-up for this issue and the SW fix needed...
They are asking me for logs from my TV, but i already changed from DVB-C module to setopbox, so i wil write them also this. please email me at moose(zavinac)email(tecka)cz o we can agree on next steps together perhaps.
Thanks, Michal Musil (Moose)
The Global suport asking me about :
but as i switched to the set-top box already, i cant provide them this easily..

I received a response from support today.
Check for firmware updates
Factory reset
Contact a service center
Is this how Sony envisions support when it's clear that the problem is software-related?
I had the same experience with support. I would have replied earlier, but this website seems to dislike my posts.
Support asks you to collect all sort of information that they are not using for anything. All in the hope that you will eventually give up. If that fails then they will direct you to an external service center. Something that will be very expensive, very inconvenient and ultimately will lead to nothing, because this is clearly a firmware issue.
I have been able to prove that my old Sony TV works fine with 3 different CAM modules and my newer TV is broken with all of them.
Well, they got what they wanted. I have officially given up. There is no way to get them to escalate the problem to technical support. I will be looking elsewhere the next time I buy a new TV. The firmware isn't the only thing that is broken here.
