XR-42A90K software bug

The current latest and the previous software versions for the XR-42A90K have a bug. Software update needed urgently!

Hello

 

Fellow XR42A90K owner here, I am on the last / previous firmware version

and have no problems with the TV.

I have not installed the latest version of the software released on the 3rd December,

in case of any problems I didn’t install so as not to affect my festive viewing.

 

Could you tell us what the ‘bug’ you are experiencing and how it manifests itself.

 

I have not read any posts here or in other forums regarding a bug with software on the XR42A90K.

The Programme guide page doesn't allow a Reminder to be set, nor does it allow a recording to be setup - the menu options below View are missing.
A full power down at the mains socket is required to reset it.
 
The bug was present in the last software version as well as the latest version. I checked for an update and decided to install it in an attempt to fix it but it hasn't stopped the fault but it happens less often.
 
I have done a full system reset and no improvement.
 
Extensive testing has confirmed there's no single action that causes the fault to happen.
 
We frequently use Netflix, Prime video and have a Humax Freesat box connected to the eARC HDMI port (HDMI 1). We often use catch-up TV for the main channels such as iPlayer ITV X etc. None of these appear to cause the fault to occur.
 
We notice the problem when going to the Programme Guide and scrolling right to set a reminder for a programme that is on later in the day. When we select the programme there's usually a set of options to allow a Reminder to be set or to allow the TV to record it etc. When the fault happens those options for Reminder, Record etc are missing. No other button presses will rectify the fault - only a full power down will reset it to

What EPG are you using. 

Are you using Sonys own Digital EPG or the EPG you get when watching TV via YouView & Catchup.

 

You can set which way you want to view the TV in 

Settings> Channels & Inputs> TV Button Shortcut>TV. 

Digital will give you the Sony EPG, when selecting programmes in this guide you will have the option to set Reminders and set Recordings.

If you select YouView & Catchup you will only be able to set Reminders.

 

Once you have selected either Digital or YouView & Catchup come out of Settings and press the TV button on the remote control, this will ensure your selected EPG will be operative.

 

This is not a problem on my TV and as far as I can tell not something that is being reported in other forums.

We use the Sony EPG with Freesat.

The fault occurs even when the Humax box is not used and it's off.

What I would like to do is report it to Sony but have only found the chat bot and that has failed to connect me to a real person. I will try using old fashioned telephone.
