3D Face Unlock

I believe that Sony should consider adding face unlock to their Xperia smartphones. Ideally, they can achieve this by adding the same 3D ToF camera that they have in the rear camera setup to the front of the device next to the front camera. It would be suitable for a globally-released flagship since the fingerprint reader under the power button is deactivated in the US due to patent issues, and people would still have an option for a secure bio-metric sensor to unlock their phone.

Does anyone else agree?

No, absolutely not.

Face Unlock was removed by Google for good reason, it doesn't work well enough to be secure.

Goodness no

Face unlock is useless and google trusted face is also.

I would rather Sony spend time and money in proper software and hardware.

Face unlock is nothing but a gimmick

That was because Google, and other manufacturers like OnePlus and Samsung, only use the front-facing camera for Face Unlock. That's why it's not that secure. However, if you add extra sensors like what Apple did with it's phones, you would have a much more secure system for facial recognition.
