I currently have the following setup:
1) Sony Blu-ray player (BDV-E380) connected to the TV via HDMI (to the HDMI 1 ARC input)
2) Virgin TiVo connected to TV via HDMI (HDMI 4 input)
(I do not want to connect the TiVo through the Blu-ray player as I do not always want the Blu-ray player on when watching TiVo.)
The TiVo outputs Dolby Digital sound via HDMI.
Does the TV pass the Dolby sound it receives from the TiVo (from HDMI 4 input) directly to the HDMI 1 port and thus transmit true Dolby sound to the Blu-ray player via ARC?
I can't find the answer to this question anywhere. I'm concerned that the TV might 'process' the sound it receives from the HDMI 4 input and this might mean it doesn't output Dolby via ARC to the Blu-ray player.
Can anyone confirm which is correct?
Thank you.
correct me if i'm wrong the connections you have are bdv-e380 connected to arc and the tivo box connected to the other hdmi output on tivo to hdmi 4
