We first purchased this TV six years ago as it was Which? Best Buy and to be honest we really wish that we had not. It has been far from a best buy. In September 2012 the LCD screen developed dark shadowing which was a known fault and Sony replaced. However two and a half years later this replacement screen has also failed with the same fault.  We have a smaller Panasonic TV which is still going strong after 12 years, whereas the KDL 40W4500 has failed twice in half that amount of time.This has left us to believe that the product is poor quality, unreliable and does not last for a reasonable amount of time. We do not regard two and half years a reasonable amount of time for a LCD screen to last. This lack of confidence in Sony products has been compounded by failures of a Sony Blu-ray player and camcorder that we have had to endure In the last two years. To make matters worse the abysmal service that we have received from Sony customer service in relation to the most recent failure of the TV has done nothing to instill any confidence in Sony. We were informed that a customer service manager would call us at a certain time. This call never came. It is clear that Sony are hoping that we will give up and go away.
