Hi I am planning on buying this tv at the start of May however I hear it's hdmi 1.4 and they were going to update the firmware to hdmi 2.0? Have they done this yet? If so how do I update to it?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The model numbers ending in 'B' are the next generation 4K TV's and superceded the models ending in 'A'.
If you can even buy one ending in 'A' then you will need the software update for HDMI 2.0 unless it was a late 2013 model whereby it may have left the manufacturer with the update already installed. There are other issues with the older 4K TV's, see here: http://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/sony-x9005a-owners-amp-netflix-4k-hevc-codec/td-p/1591963
Enjoy the read and I am sure that you will want to go with the 'B' model
Hi Skyiom,
A simple internet search confirms on several sites that the TV in question supports HDMI 2.0 across all four HDMI inputs. See here: http://www.whathifi.com/sony/kd-65x9005b/specs and here: http://4k.com/tv/sony-kd-65x9005b-review-a-high-end-highly-anticipated-4k-tv/ for example.
I own a KD-55X9005A (prior model to yours) which was only available with HDMI 1.4, after a software update HDMI 4 input became HDMI 2.0 - perhaps you are confusing over this ? The 2014 4K televisions were all available with HDMI 2.0 as standard.
Hope this helps
