When trying to make Recovery Discs for VPC-M11M1E notebook the program gets to the stage of burning the 2 DVD discs then does not recognise the DVD-R discs I am inserting.
It puts up a window saying that there is no disc in the drive. Is there only a special type of disc accepted by the program?
The DVD drive is OK - it is the one I use in my main computer. Any suggestions to solve my problem would be appreciated.
Hi Thalamus,
Thank you for your welcome & reply.
As I said in my last paragraph, the external optical disc drive I used is the one from my main computer, powered as a sepatate unit, and connected to the vaio. I tested it with other DVD discs using the viao before attempting to create the Recovery Discs.
I suspect the answer lies with the type of DVD discs required to be used for the backup. That's the path I'll go down to try to solve the problem.
However, I'm a bit disappointed that the enclosed instructions were not more specific as to which discs to use.
Hi Infoseeker1,
welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:
Have you connected an external DVD drive to your vaio.?
It states in the manual -
If your computer is not equipped with a built-in optical disc drive, you need to use
an external optical disc drive to create the recovery discs. Be sure to connect an
external optical disc drive to an AC power source before using the drive.
Here is a link to the Troubleshooting and Recovery Guide should you need it..
In the past Verbatim, Sony & TDK +R DVD's seem a popular choices of media to use when creating recovery disc's..
