How long does the first win7 update take to install ?

Hello,

I just bought a Vaio EB4E4E, and following the instructions I have updated windows. But installation seemed to get stuck at number 41 of 71 updates. After 75 mins I cancelled it and started again. This time updating via Vaio update, got to win7 update again and its stuck at number 3 of the remaining 32 files to install. But the green bar is pulsating as if its working.  Is this usual please ?  TIA

Well, if asnyone else ever has the same question......

Its about 4 hours, and in my case I had 3 sessions installing the initial 71 files, then it kept picking up more updates, maybe another 8. One very long file did not want to install and I had to use the 'repair' facility to make it install. This was quite a heavy workload for any new PC I have ever had. I still don't know if its 'usual' but I seem to have got through it so far.
