I set cpu to adaptive like was recommended and that worked on the cpu but hdd started to run hot could the weather have something to do with it as have recently moved to cyprus for 3 years with hubby.
I'd say it's almost certainly the environment. If the CPU is getting hot, there's probably a reason for it, e.g. clogged heatsink/fan, etc. However, there's really no cooling for the hard drive, and so there's nothing that can really cause a problem. Try and keep the laptop out of direct sunlight and it should stay cooler.
