It could be several things: -

• Damaged or corrupt hard drive
• Corrupt or uninstalled video drivers
• Computer Virus
• Explorer will not load

What model Vaio do you have?  There may be model specific causes.

Is the blank screen black or blue?  Has Windows loaded?

Can you open Task Manager with Ctrl+Alt+Del?

It is probably the hard drive but best to check!!
