Have a problem since the update to android 8 Oreo. The inserted SD card is not showing up in my apps, only in system settings and for some file managers, also the camera app can read and write to it.
Formatted it inside the storage settings and turned on encryption.
After some online research, many people seem to have this problem. And for some the solution seems to be a factory reset with inserted SD card, however encryption destroys functionality again.
Edit: problem occurs also on Xperia XZ1 and other Xperias with android 8
Yup.. It happened on xperia x too and even worse in Xperia X
1. Can't copy file in Sd Card
2. Keyboard prediction is messed up
3. Can't edit any file in Sd Card
4. Phone automatically shut down if you try to edit any file in Sd Card
No problem with my SD Card after upgrading to Oreo. SanDisk 256GB.
Btw, there's a built-in 'Files' app for Android Oreo. Try using that app to manage your files.

problem with SD Card after udating to Oreo 8.1 is Solved!!
ok people here is what I have done to fix it and it worked
just do as I say and read carefully please do not miss a step:
!.back up your SD on your PC
2.use your android device Settings menu > Storage > then click on SD Card use the ... drop down menu button on the top right format it as an Internal Storage
3.Reboot
4.connect to your pc again make sure nothing named SD card with your SD card appears in the explorer
5.use your android device again , this time to reformat the SD card as an External driver
6.reboot
7. ATTENTION!! once the device comes back on you get a notification saying that the device had detetcted a new SD Card . double tap on the notification it will take you to a menu where you can tell it to use your SD Card as :
portable storage
or
internal
once you see this many press back button . basically choose neither one !! this way it`ll stay undefined space and all the apps can detect, write, read it
if in any setting that prompt came up to choose between portable/internal dont answer and skip.
Good Luck
Holy crap, that worked! I could kiss you, LenovoTablet. And a very special thanks to Google for breaking a very basic tablet function somehow. (Not a fan of Oreo so far)
