Xperia X compact -lights up when plugged in but no charging -suggestions?

Hi

Hoping someone can offer some insight. Phone was charging as normal this morning no sign of issue. Returned home tonight  (>10% battery) and is now not charging when plugged in.

When the phone is turned on nothing seems to happen when I put charger in port. When the phone is off, it lights up shows me the image of the battery and charge % left  but then goes blank again.

Ive tried cleaning it out, resetting everything in about every which way, the port doesnt appear to be damaged or loose, numerous different cables and power outlets. Nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions as what I can do? Or does it need to be repaired? (CAN it be repaired?)

TIA.

I take it you tried working with Xperia Companion (on PC or Mac)? There is another startup mode available when doing so. You could see whether Xperia Companion recognizes the phone at all. If not, it would likely be a hardware problem, possibly a bad USB-C port.

EDIT: One other thought. Have you tried leaving the phone connected to the charger for at least 15 minutes? Sometimes if the battery level drops too low, the phone might not respond normally until the level gets beyond a certain minimum.

Hi

Yes, Ive tried connecting to the PC and it doesnt recognize/find the device. Im currently at 0% so at the moment it doesn't even turn on- but leaving it on charge doesn't do anything, it just intermittedly flashes with the image of a 0% battery then the Sony Logo.

All a bit confusing as the phone was working absolutely fine.

Have another look at the manual and try to find something in the troubleshooting section.

Try a forced reboot as well.

When nothing helps goto software repair with Xperia Companion.

However notice that your device has to be charged before you can do the software repair.

When your device is not recognised by the software then pay attention to point 2B in the second post of the software repair guide.
