I've owned many many many Sony phones and devices, and this has annoyed me since day 1, and now I'm one year in on this phone and ready to go through the hassle of having it fixed. Changing phones every 1-2 years is enough, to reset everything up again, without having to deal with faulty phones and restores to check if that fixes the issues.
So, my problem is that the screen sometimes double, triple, etc taps instead of just once. So I might be typing or swiping and the keyboard presses xpppppppeeeerrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia instead of xperia. It also may tap multiple times on links, icons, etc.
I have restored the phone, I have used safe mode, I have tried without SIM or storage card, checked that glove mode is off, etc. Nothing has fixed this issue. So, expecting that this needs to be sent in for repair, I'm restoring and updating an older Xperia phone to use in the meantime.
I found the following threads on this forum which explain similar issues, but no resolution. Has anybody experienced this, and did you get a resolution... what was it? Send away for repair? On one of the threads, someone suggested a faulty digitizer, so maybe this is it, and it will require sending back for repair?
Also, I don't know if this is related or a common X series issue... the battery never lasts the day.
My previous Xperia Z3 Compact (a smaller phone in both battery and screen size) had much much better battery life. I previously brought this up with Sony, and they said to do a factory reset, which I did... and it never fixed my screen issues or the battery life.
I don't use my phone a great deal (I'm not glued to it all day), but I do use it, as it is designed to be used... GPS navigation to and from places, make and receive calls(!), check some websites, reply to messages... that's about it during the day, no games, no videos. It lasts sometimes to about 3 pm (mid-late arvo), so I've resorted to carrying around a battery backup.
Has anybody else experienced this? What should I do now... report to the phone carrier (which is where I also bought the phone) or report to Sony? The phone is still under warranty with Sony and I'd like to get this fixed before the warranty runs out.
I hate this phone, absolutely hate it, for this very reason. I've only had it a few months and will be talking to my provider about returning it and getting something different. Very disappointing because my last phone was a Sony and I loved it. Sorry now that I was in such a hurry to upgrade.
You just need to replace SwiftKey by another Keyboard apps. I use Gboard and it solves the problem. After installing you need to enable it: Settings -> Systems > Language &Input > on-screen keyboard > Manage Keyboards. Disable SwiftKey, Enable Gboard.
