Battery use and charging

Hi all,

I've just started using my X2 as a music player and as expected that uses more battery than how I normally use the phone.

I've plugged the phone into my laptop (with a genuine SE cable) and stopped everything I can in the task manager.

The "backlight and power screen" says the phone is charging but the percentage is going down not up !!

The phone is just sitting there in standby with nothing running (as far as I know) - certainly no bluetooth or wireless.

Anyone know why it doesn't seem to be charging correctly when connected to a PC?

Thanks.

Some further detail and observations:

When unplugged, the battery use stops going down so fast, so something about being connected to the PC is causing the battery to drop quickly.

The PC has no drivers etc installed, so the X2 is not recognised at all, but the phone itself does know it is plugged in and says that it is charging.

Will compare to my home machine that does have drivers etc to see if it charges there or not...

(charge vi AC or car charger seems to work fine)

Confirmed: it is charging via my properly installed PC at home.

So it would seem that if you plug your X2 into a PC but don't install the device drivers on the PC, the X2 will chew through it's battery for some reason.

Sounds like a genuine bug to me!

you must set the device to charge the battery when plug into computer.

You can set it on Setting -> System -> Backlight and Power Management -> Battery. You can unmark the "do not charge...bla..bla"

Wish you luck.

Yep, already done that.

The other night I had the X2 connected to the PC to transfer some music.

Was at 100% charge.

Turned the PC off but forgot to disconnect the XP.

Next morning (about 6 or 7 hours later), charge was at 8% just from having a USB cable with no live PC on the other end connected.

I've got to say, the X2 is the worst phone I've ever owned.

SE support is crap!!

(my other memory card issues were solved via a fix from XDA forums, SE support just had "try a new memory card")

Pity I paid so much for it I can't just dump it.
