Okay, so yesterday the screen of my Xperia broke, I'm not quite sure how, but it did.
It's just black and I don't think it's responding to touch either because I have tried unlocking it blindly with no joy (should be super easy, my lock pattern is super simple).
I just want to know if there is any way I can salvage whatever files I had on the phone. PC Companion is not working because I can't unlock the screen. I can't remember if I had any kind of back up thing in place....
Any other ideas?
I've already ordered a replacement phone through my insurance and the broken one's being picked up tomorrow so I'd rather like to get all the sensitive info & files out of it if possible.
If the files are on the SD card you can, if they are on the internal storage you won't be able to access them. with that said, you can wipe out your phone so no one will have access to your files.
You can use PCC or MyXperia or Android device manager.
If the screen is broken, then the digitizer will Not work on this device.
You need to get a USB OTG cable and plug it to the microUSB on the phone, and then use a mouse on it... but since your display is also broken, then it is trickier to make this work because you will be trying to unlock with a mouse blindly.
You could use an MHL adapter, out to an HDMI monitor or TV, but then you wouldn't be able to use the mouse at the same time, since it uses the same microUSB port...
In conclusion, what you need is one of those generic adapters that includes MHL / USB at the same time... such as: New Dream 5in1 MHL Micro USB To HDMI
Every single one that I've seen in amazon have very bad reviews, BUT it is worth a shot right?
The thing is, I don't remember if the Z3 Compact will send signal to the external display Before is unlocked... Hopefully it does, so you can actually see what you are doing.
Good luck
aah, thank you for your help but I won't be able to do all this as I don't have a TV/monitor with HDMI, and also I have to give up the phone today
Erasing didn't work either, because apparently the phone's in flight mode (it still responds to OK Google.... hahah)
I think i'll just have to accept my loss and be more careful to back up my stuff in the future
I'm sorry to hear that.
