Buying a new phone/music player

Hey Sony-Ericsson forum, I'm new here, what I really want to do is get rid of my iPod Nano. I currently have a Sony Ericsson W810i phone.

I feel the iPod Nano has superior sound quality, understandably been about 5 years since i bought this phone and the iPod nano is quite recent,

what I can't really get out of the tech specs and info of the phones is sound quality, if i buy W995 or maybe W715 phone for example how is the sound quality

better then in my W810i phone?

What Im currently looking for is maybe a measurement of the quality of my w810i sound quality, and the measurement of the quality of lets say W995 or W715. If there is such a thing.

I wana add I'm not really a phone person, I dont get alot of calls but I need to have a phone on me at all times, for work and such. I listen to music 24/7 anywhere i go,

I use public transportation alot and walk alot. I dont want to have a phone and a mp3 player on me, I would rather have a device that does both, but I do not comprimise sound quality.

the mp3 player part of the device is more important to me.

I would really appreciate any help I can get.

I'm a W715 user and also a sound technician in training. Before I begin, I'm assuming that you're listening to music through headphones and also this message is heavily based on my experience with the W880 and W715.

What I can say in the W715's favour is that is has a full EQ for sorting out the levels or adding more bass and treble etc.. It also has presets which can add different qualities to your music. (Although I think they're standard features that come with all SE phones, I had to mention them).

As for the marker of sound quality you were looking for, from my past experience with SE phones (I've had 4) I can say that there isn't much difference in sound quality between them, although because your phone is old, SE may have slightly improved the quality.

I would recommend that you buy the W715 (and I promise I don't work for Sony :smileyhappy:) because it's great value for money, it's built solid and the phone also just generally feels comfortable to use with it's big buttons and large display.

Out of the phones you've listed in your area and in your price range, the best ones for your usage would be the W995 and the W715.

Hope I've helped...

Thanx alot Ben for your response, and yes it helps. do you think its better then the Nano? do you use SE phone as your primary music player?

but also, I just tested like minutes ago LG Arena phone, the sound quality in it was, well 100% better then my W810i

don't know how it matches up to the newer SE phones though. Its much better then the Nano.

as for it being a great value, value is diffrent based on countries, for example a iphone 16 gb costs 985 (1216 dollars) euro's here.

318 euros for the W715 (393 dollars), so yea I guess it is great value, but then again everything is great value compared to Apple.

still really dont wana come home with the player and find out it's just the same quality as my W810i, which would be 318 euros down the drain for me.

still waiting for somebody from Sony or an Expert to come here and tell me the measurement of the quality of sound quality in the phones, and how these SE phones stack.

ps. I have Sennheiser IE6 headphones so im covered in that department. headphones that come with these phones is not important. If somebody was going to suggest just buying good headphones

I've never used a nano. My primary music player is an ipod touch 8gb.

I've never tested an LG before so I wouldn't know what it sounds like to compare the quality.

It's true what you say about the iPhone, I think it's way too over priced (although some of my friends have bought one)

I wish I could send you my phone so you could test out the quality before you buy one.

Could you buy the phone and then return it for a refund if you're unhappy with it or are phones excluded from the returns policy?

no refund if i opened the pakage and put songs on it and used it. I might get the LG Arena for 222 Euro's (274 dollars) pretty good deal for a LG Arena. but then i won't be apart of SE. I tbh really like everything about SE, the design of these forums, the style of SE phones, even the Media Go looks to challenge Itunes, and the whole SE experience could topple Apple i belive, only thing Apple got is marketing. too bad about the Ipod Touch, I strife to remove myself from all Apple Products.
