Hi - I also experienced the same problem with my Z3. I have never dropped the phone. However, my camera stopped saving photos, then I had an error message pop up saying 'your device temperature is getting high, if this continues it will shut down' (or similar) so I stopped using it and when I came back to it later, I noticed some tiny hairline cracks on the back of the phone. I'm currently trying to get a full refund from the company I bought it from. The product I received is clearly fauly in some way. I switched from apple to sony for this phone, a it selling points just matched what I was after. It's a real shame sony haven't delivered the goods on this occasion.
Same thing happened to me, no drop no physical damage. One day only on the table and in the afternoon there a hairline crack. I hope Sony does soemthing about it.
My Z3 has the same crack in rear glass. I did not drop it, it just happened. Its now on service and I hope sony fixes this for free. They will not be able to find any traces from a drop in floor.
(its my 2nd repair - the touch screen broke after 10days. I was on seaworld and disney to take alot of phots - it died the first day - shouldn't left samsung ... )
Make a plastic rear !!! even the new iphone is plastic - sony is the only phone with glass now- I looked at 10 different phones in store today. The glass is not good in hand, too slippery - it just looks nice, as if somebody care about that...
The back glass of my phone go cracked just in a day. The phone is very much delicate; also, handing is big issue with the glass back. The mobile slides all the time. 0 rating for the phone built up.
After wanting a phone which fills all of the hype of the Z3 , waterproof, amazing camera, fast, looks etc and then being coaxed away from many years of apple products. on its arrival i was extremly pleased with my new Z3 and during our first day together everything was great.
That was until it rang this being the main purpose of the handset .
This caused the device to vibrate, causing it to move and fall less than 1 ft.
If i had the reactions of Bruce Lee i may of caught the device but as the phone fell my heart sank.
On picking the device up the screen was intact, fantastic i thought. But on turning the phone i found a hairline crack.
Disapointment fills my whole body.
now my waterproof device is not any more.
After years of dropping i phones with no issue i find it hard to believe that the unit is so very fragile. i would be interested to see a test on the device.
I also find it hard to believe that the designers have made the back so smooth all though athestically pleasing , this obviously is the main cause of the problem.
the device will move and slip on its own on many surfaces.
what is my next course of action as obviously i am not happy about this situation and wish i hadnt made an investment in sony and stayed with Apple.I do not believe this product to be fit for purpose or as advertised as a waterproof do it all smart phone.
sony could you respond please.
