Picasa on X10 Mini

I picked up a SIM free X10 Mini this week, and it's a nice little phone.

However, reviews I read talked about Picasa being installed on the phone and being available in the camera "share" menu. But the one I've got has no picasa anywhere, and the options for sharing photos are limited to facebook (ugh) and regular email/MMS etc.

Does anyone know whether I should have Picasa, or were the reviews just talking BS?

Thanks

I have the big X10, but on that, if you go to Mediascape and select photos, press the menu button and select Photo home settings.  Tick the box 'Show online services' and then 'select services'.  From that screen, I can enable Facebook or Picassa.  Does that help, or is it different on the mini?

Open the camera app, take a picture ... then click the message like symbol.. then u will see the picasa option.

you can post your picture directly to picasa. It wrks in my x10 mini.

Thanks for your answers guys. Sadly, the X10 Mini does not have the Mediascape application, and mine does not have Picasa app or the "picasa" option in the "message" menu when you take or view a picture.

While I was playing around with the phone I also noticed that it does not have the YouTube app installed. This led me to do some investigation and it turns out that a lot of people (in Belgium particularly!) have complained about not getting YouTube in when they expected it on the X10, and I think the same must apply to my Picasa issue - I got my phone SIM free and not attached to any network, and for whatever reason it is lacking some of the Google apps.

About YouTube the manual says:

"The YouTube™ application and the YouTube™ service are not supported in all countries/
regions, or by all networks and/or service providers in all areas."

I suspect that depending on your network or country, you get some things and not others. Oh well. I'll have to download the APK files and install them manually.

That's a pity.  I've just looked at the Android Market and there seems to be a number of applications there which enable one to upload things straight on to YouTube and Picasa.  If you're not somewhere where YouTube is frowned upon, you should be able to find something there that replicates what the phone would do if it had come with all the bells and whistles you were expecting.

I notice that mine doesn't have a YouTube app either.  I'm in Canada, which is pretty democratic, so not sure why it wouldn't be included, but it's probably just one of those things.  I can access it easily enough, though.  I'd forgotten my Japanese advert playlist, so I'm glad I investigated this!

I have never tried uploading a video to YouTube, from a phone or computer, so I don't know if that function is likely to prove troublesome.

Just an update on this issue.

A little search on Google reveals that there are places to download YouTube.apk and Picasa.apk. I copied these onto the SD card and downloaded an app called Astro, which enables you to install these application files.

Now I have a working YouTube and Picasa application, and the "Picasa" option appears on the share menu of the image viewer.

Thanks!
