I have the same message on mine, though mine is hacked so I put it down to that. Phone totally functional (so far) but sim unavailable.
As for sync, not sure on the nokia side, but should be able to sync it up through outlook. Sync the nokia down to your computer and then the X10 up.

I get the same message if I turn my phone off and then on again. I thought it simply meant that the SIM card was unavailable whilst the phone was booting up, but that it became available again once the phone has gone through its warming up stage. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Go to phonebook
You will get the message: my number: SIM card unavailable
Then click Menu Key -> More -> Import contacts -> SIM card
You can select All or One by One
In my case I tried 2 times ‘All’ but got following error:
Sorry
The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again
But I am able to add contact one by one.
Any idea about error?
