Smart Connect won't play track on Amazon Music

I've installed Amazon Music to use the Amazon Music Unlimited service, and I've set up Smart Connect to Start the Amazon Music app and Play when Headphones connected. It will start the Amazon Music App but won't automatically play the current track. I have to go in and start it manually. Any ideas?  Previously it was working ok using the Sony Music app.

Welcome to the community.

Because the Amazon Music app is from a third party it may interract differently with Smart Connect than the Sony developed one. I am not familiar with this app so I can't really provide troubleshooting on it. I recommend you contact the developers and see if it is possible.
