sms alert stuck

After update of main prog, sms alert is stuck with 2 new messages, inbox is empty.What do I do?

Try settings-apps-all-messages,force stop and clear data.Restart. Make sure to have a backup of your messages.

I only use on sms app/program, everything has worked perfectly until I updated

Can you boot in safe mode and see if the same occurs?
