sony xperia z shut off when accidently connecting usb upside down

plugging my phone into charge last night, as i have done for the last 2 years, accidently plugged the usb in the wrong way up, which I have done many times with no ill effects.

This time the screen went off, and i have not been able to get it started again, trying all the usual tricks, with presisng and holding the buttons.

Took the back off, metred the battery, and its fine.

PLEASE HELP 🙂

cant believe that plugging the USB in the wrong way would cause a major short, as its not as if i forced it in. I gently pushed, realised then turned it around.

Did you break the microUSB port?

not to my knowledge, no.

You should have the device examined at a sony service:

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

And for future reference,if you see it doesn't fit, don't push it.

thanks, but what i was trying to indicate is that it just touched the wrong way, in no way did I push it, it was like it had static that shorted something. anyway thanks, and i suppose i will have to send for repair, if its worth the cost that is, as expect its expensive.

will do, never used repair before, likely to be alot, and i mean very rough. I know its not going to be a £10, but £300 would be silly.

know what i mean

received the phone back all sorted. according to the sheet they had to replace alot of internals.

But one thing i did notice, that it does now, that it never did (i didnt even notice) is the haptic feedback when typing.  maybe there was an inherant fault from birth.

either way its all sorted now. but no real explanation as to the fault.
