Hi all,
Since the Android 4.4.4 update my Sony Xperia z3 compact will not connect to mobile internet - I've checked APN settings, and there's no problem with Three in my area.
Does anyone have any advice on what the problem may be? I've seen others complaining of a similar problem, but haven't seen a definitive answer. I have Sony Bridge for Mac - is there a software update that will address this problem?
Thanks in advance, folks. I am a complete dunce when it comes to technology - but this is a work phone so I have to get it up and running.
Hi,
Have you tried to download new internet settings and then restart your phone to see if this can help? You can download internet settings via Settings > More... > Internet settings. When the download is complete, restart the phone to see if you have a working connection.
Hi there,
Thanks for the advice - I have now tried this, and still can't connect. In fact, before I tried downloading internet settings I appeared to have 4 bars of signal (though no 3G/4G) and now I only have one (and still no 3G/4G)! So any further advice anyone has would be much appreciated.
Be aware that the bars with signal strength and your internet settings have no relationship whatsoever.
Are you sure that under Settings/Data Usage you have "Mobile Data" enabled?
Thanks for your reply.
Yes - I realise that. And yes, mobile data is enabled (and I haven't set a limit on data usage). Any ideas?
Do you actually have a data plan or credit for a data
Yes, I have a data plan - as noted in the original post, everything was fine until the Android 4.4.4. update.
Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Thank you Thommo. I assume the 'Mac equivalent' of PC companion is Bridge for Mac? If so, I'll give that a shot.
If that doesn't work then have your Sim card checked at your networks store or have them send you a new one and if that fails then either wait for Lollipop to test or you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
