Unlock bootloader (unlockable - no)

My phone's bootloader is locked and the unlockable status is 'no'.  I would like to know whether it is at all possible to work around this to unlock the bootloader?

I believe this is a restriction imposed by my service provider (EE / Orange UK), is this true?  Can they allow it to be unlocked, somehow?  I have asked on the EE support forums but haven't yet received a formal answer.

Phone is Xperia T LT30p, build 9.1.A.1.145 running Android 4.1.2.  EE/Orange are not likely to be releasing any updates for this phone, so in addition to some bugs in the existing version, I want to flash a custom ROM.

Any advise is gratefully receeived.

the ability to unlock the bootloader being removed is either your network reserving the right and protecting there investment IE: The phone or it is a country restriction - I doubt you will receive an answer from them as most of them have no idea and simply follow a pre-set formed replies

Yes, although I haven't tried contacting EE directly about it, I feared that I wouldn't get a sensible or definitive answer anyway.  I suppose I will have to try them though...

Thanks

Even if they are responsive, is it even technically possible to unlock it when it's 'not unlockable'? Just trying to understand the technicalities.  Thanks for your input

Allegedly Sony have the ability to do this but I say this with uncertainty, Just a rumor I have read or I read it the wrong way, If you just want Root then some devices can be Rooted without unlocking the bootloader or if you want to clear not delete some system apps then use a program called Debloater, Bear in mind than none of what I've said is official so please don't take it as such
