Unsure of waterproofing after repair

Hi guys, so recently i sent my phone for repair since it just stopped working. Turned out to be a board related problem. Well i just got my phone yesterday and im happy its fixed and all but im kind of worried about its waterproofing, it doesnt give me a peace of mind if i just went "oh sony fixed it anyway, so i guess it should be water tight, imma go give it a dip" NO this is an expensive phone(for me at least) and i dont wanna risk it. Im asking you guys this because im pretty sure the local sony centre where i bought the phone dont do vacuum tests because even the local service center wont touch the phone, they say they'd need to send it to their main service center AGAIN which can take a couple months just like it did when i got it repaired. So yeah guys i dont know, what's the best option for me to ensure that it's water tight? any help is appreciated Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi SmeariousSam,

Have you tried contacting the service agent directly, they should be able to advise if they performed a vacuum test on the device once they had done the repairs?

Go into your dialer and type in "*#*#7378423#*#*" without the quotes and you should be redirected to a service screen.  Select service tests and find pressure sensor.  Press on your screen gently and if the pressure goes up (it should o down immediately as a result of it being equalized) it means your phone is sealed and most likely waterproof.  However it doesn't go up and remains the same, your phone is not sealed and will be damaged by water.

okay, so i havent tried calling yet, but i tried the pressure sensor thing, it starts of with 1011.74 millibar flickering to 1011.77 millibar and between, and when i touch it it goes to 1012.7x mb something(keeps flickering) and then goes back to 1011.xx mb immediately

This test has had mixed results, have a look on XDA Forum, the only sure fire guaranteed test for waterproofness of your phone is the Vacuum Test.......follow Jakes advice from yesterday & contact where you had the work done & ask them

Good luck :smileysmileywink:
