Upgraded Sony Xperia ZR to Android Kitkat 4.4.4. However, Move to SD option is not available.

Hi,

Yesterday I upgraded my Xperia ZR phone to latest Android Kitkat 4.4.4. The upgrade went smooth and completed without any problems. Futher exploring the phone, in Apps I'm unable to see Move to SD option.

Was this option part of latest Kitkat OS release ?

Thanks,

Viddhesh.

The thing is no one said about 4.4.4 on the Z being able to move apps to SD.And yes, just take a look in T2 ultra forum, full of issues because of that option.

I own Xperia ZR , and i was so hopefull to receive option to Move App to SD card after upgrade to 4.4.4.

I am very disappointed for not having this feature in my Xperia.even after long wait of upgrade to 4.4.4.

I belive Xperia ZR has very good configuration and Xperia Team should enable us to use the phone to it's maximum extent rather than limiting us to unveil it's power.

I would love to move many of my apps installed in internal memory to SD card, I cannot run heavy weight applications and good games just becuase of this missing functionality.

Moving Apps to SD card feature was so very much helpful for me on my previous Samsung Note 2 phone.

I will loose interest in Xperia if this feature is not provided as i will not be able to use Xperia to it's complete extent.

My humble request to Sony Xperia team , please enable this feature to move APPS to SD card.

There is no point as the new Google API's which are needed for apps to work don't support this feature due to Google moving towards Android L - It was given to some phones and they reported that apps no longer worked

So to be clear, what you're saying is I can't load enough apps on the internal storage to make this thing useful as a smart phone, and I can't move them to the SD card (either via upgrade or rooting) because they will stop working.

In other words, I have a very expensive paperweight.

Thanks Sony! Would love it if someone "official" would care to comment.

I did not see any new devices with android 4.X that have the move to SD feature (I personally checked sony and samsung brands).

if you install an app to do this for you remember that it could root yor android. so your guarantee will be viod.

moreover, I think this feature is available in some htc models.

after all, I recommend you not to use sd card for apps. there are reasons that improved androids prevent apps to install on SD cards.

My friend's Xperia M2 got ability to move apps to sd card while Xperia Z did not.

I contacted italian Sony support, they told me "we will contact our developers and you will be informed via email", i haven't received anything for weeks.

Meanwhile my Xperia Z works terribly after latest 4.4.4 update, Sony if issues won't be fixed i will never purchase a Sony device anymore! Such a shame, i'm very disappointed..

The new Android one phones from Google have the app to SD function. You can check pn you YouTube. My Zr has only 8gb of storage of which only 4gb is useable whereas z and zl has 16gb so zr definetly needs this.
